I’ve been spilling my guts about last night’s election results over at Orphan Road. The short answer is that it wasn’t a good day for Washington State. We set ourselves back at least 5 years by voting down Prop. 1, and we completely hamstrung state government by passing I-960, which will require a 2/3 majority of the legislature or the people to pass any tax increase.
Though it will surely be challenged in court, I-960 is a clear example of a ballot initiative system run amok.
